12. Paragraph (b) of section 2 of the Misdemeanors

Punishment Ordinance, 1898, is amended by the insertion of

the words "or in the service of the Hong Kong Municipal

Council" after the words "in the Civil Service” in the third

line thereof.

Old registers to be in force in default of compiling new.

Clerk of the Council to be the registration officer.

PART III.

REGISTRATION.

13. (1) A register of electors shall be prepared in

every year and shall be made for the qualifying period ending

on the thirtieth day of November.

(2) The register shall come into force on the commencement

of the first day of March next after its preparation and shall

remain in force until the twenty-eighth day of February next

following.

(3) If for any reason the registration officer fails to

compile a register for the municipality or any electoral

division or ward thereof by the date specified in sub-section (1)

of this section, the register in force at the time when the

fresh register should have come into force shall continue to

operate as the register for the municipality or the electoral

division or ward thereof, as the case may be, in respect of

which default has been made until three months after the date

on which the compilation of the fresh register shall be

completed.

14. (1) The clerk of the Council shall be the

registration officer for the municipality.

(2) The Council may from time to time appoint such

deputy registration officers as they may think fit and any

duties and powers of the registration officer may be performed

and exercised by any deputy registration officer so appointed

and the provisions of this Ordinance shall apply to any such

deputy as they apply to the registration officer.

(3) In the event of any vacancy in the office of the clerk

of the Council, or in the event of his incapacity to act, any

acts authorized or required to be done by or with respect to
